We worship, study, pray and reach out to our community because as we live Jesus’ ministry it will bring us closer to Him and to each other.

The Maryville Seventh-day Adventist church sees the Christian journey as a growing connection with Jesus and to one another.

Our passion is to honor Jesus with what mattered to Him as expressed in the Bible. That passion drives us to understand the teachings of the Bible and believe that the Bible is the only source of truth.

For example, our church recognizes the “Sabbath”, a weekly day of rest that we believe is a gift from God that benefits our lives, as described in the story of Creation from the book of Genesis. You might be wondering why we worship on Saturdays instead of Sundays. Jesus and the early church kept the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath, according to the commandments that God gave to Moses after leading his people out of slavery. For this reason, we believe it matters to Jesus that the Sabbath day is honored.

28 Fundamental Beliefs

Seventh-day Adventists accept the Bible as the only source of our beliefs. We consider our movement to be the result of the protestant conviction Sola Scriptura—the Bible as the only standard of faith and practice for Christians.

Currently, Adventists hold 28 fundamental beliefs that can be organized into six categories—the doctrines of God, man, salvation, the church, the Christian life and last day events. In each teaching, God is the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity.
